Health Status
The Brettles Herd is a member of Biobest Herdcare
and has been given accredited status for IBR (Infectious Bovine Rhinotracheitis),
BVD (Bovine Virus Diarrhoea) and Johnes Disease as a result of 3 years
of blood testing.
Because the cattle co-graze some of the year
with sheep it is not worth trying to achieve accredited status
for Leptospirosis but this disease has not been a problem.
The boundaries of the farm prevent contact
with neighbouring livestock and only animals with an equivalent
health status are introduced onto the farm.
